Can I use Google login widget on my login page?

In short

Since 2022, Google login has not been available as an option on mobile devices due to changes in Google security policies.

As a result, the login button still appears on Social WiFi login screens, but it only works in a web browser. For mobile devices, a message would appear when clicked informing the user to choose another option.

Unfavourable Workarounds

Google encouraged captive portal providers, to redirect users from captive portal window to a web browser to complete the authentication, but this process is cumbersome for the WiFi user and they get an easier and better experience by simply choosing another login option.

Why are we making these changes?

We have decided that it is finally time to say goodbye to Google as a login option. More than 80% of logins are done on mobile and almost all clients ask why it is not working. This unfavourable experience for everybody means that it’s in the best interest of everybody to make some updates.

Our data shows that between 1st January 2024 and 31st October 2024, only 0.07% of logins were completed with Google.

What you need to do

Nothing. We will take care of everything. New venues from 1st December 2024 will not be able to add Google as a login option and on 1st February 2024 all venues in all countries will automatically have this login option removed from their login pages.
