Adding YouTube widget

Following this instruction will show you how to add and configure working YouTube widget on Social WiFi splash pages.

This guide concerns MikroTik routers

1. Log into you Social WiFi Dashboard

2. On the left side click Splash Pages and choose one you want to change.

3. When you open the page, on the right side there are 3 signs including one with a + icon. Click on it. After that click Elements section and choose YouTube.

4. When you drag to the centre area you will see Social WiFi’s default video. To change it, paste a YouTube URL to the bar on the right side.

5. Click Save.

Updating MikroTik Walled Garden

  1. Open Winbox, on the left side click New Terminal and paste these commands.:

/ip hotspot walled-garden
add comment="socialwifi: Allow YouTube widget." dst-host=*.youtube.com
add comment="socialwifi: Allow YouTube widget. It's a workaround for Mikrotik walled garden bug with CNAME in DNS response. Required to allow www.youtube.com." dst-host=youtube-ui.l.google.com

Remember to press Enter. After that you can close Winbox and check it on your smartphone!
