Adding YouTube widget

Following this instruction will show you how to add and configure working YouTube widget on Social WiFi splash pages.

This guide concerns MikroTik routers

1. Log into you Social WiFi Dashboard

2. On the left side click Splash Pages and choose one you want to change.

Have in mind that the YouTube widget does not work on the Agreements page.

3. Here you can add or edit one of the existing pages.

4. When you open, on the right side there are 3 signs, one with a + icon. Click on it. After that click Elements section and choose YouTube.

5. When you drag to the center area you will see default Social WiFi’s video. To change it, paste a link with your video to the bar on the right side.

6. When you’ve added another page don’t forget to click Active to activate your page.

7. The most important thing to do is copy and paste commands to your MikroTik router.

Open Winbox, on the left side click New Terminal and paste these commands.:

/ip hotspot walled-garden
add comment="socialwifi: Allow YouTube widget." dst-host=*.youtube.com
add comment="socialwifi: Allow YouTube widget. It's a workaround for Mikrotik walled garden bug with CNAME in DNS response. Required to allow www.youtube.com." dst-host=youtube-ui.l.google.com
add comment="socialwifi: Allow YouTube widget. It's a workaround for Mikrotik walled garden bug with CNAME in DNS response. Required to allow img.youtube.com." dst-host=ytimg.l.google.com
add comment="socialwifi: Allow YouTube widget." dst-host=*.ytimg.com

add comment="socialwifi: Allow YouTube widget. It's a workaround for Mikrotik walled garden bug with CNAME in DNS response. Required to allow yt3.ggpht.com." dst-host=*.l.googleusercontent.com

Remember to press Enter. After that you can close Winbox and check it on your smartphone!
